Thor puts the hammer's strap around his wrist, then swings it around. The hammer goes off flying, and since it's around Thor's wrist, Thor does too. |

Superhero Team: X-Men
Created: 1963
Created By: Stan Lee, Jack Kirby
First Appearance: X-Men #1
Founding/Original Members: Cyclops, Iceman, Beast, Angel, and Marvel Girl, all bought together and trained by Professor X.
Flaw: Each member of the team had their own personal problems and pitfalls. They were an incredibly diverse group of superheroes, and Lee did this on purpose. He says, "I wanted them to be diverse. The whole underlying principle of the X-Men was to try to be an anti-bigotry story to show there’s good in every person".
Fun Fact: The team was named "The X-Men" because each member had an "extra ability" that normal humans didn't have.

Superhero Team: The Avengers
Created: 1963
Created By: Stan Lee, Jack Kirby
First Appearance: The Avengers #1- The Coming of the Avengers
Founding/Original Team Members: Ant-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Wasp, and Captain America (took Hulk's place after he left).
Flaw: The team was constantly changing, with some members leaving and others coming in to help the rest fight. This was a really diverse group of superheroes, and though this led to many squabbles, the team was the better for it, battling villains that no one superhero could fight alone.
Fun Fact: The Avengers comics took many different paths, but one of the most memorable was when they had a crossover with the David Letterman show in 1984. The comic featured The Avengers showing up on the David Letterman show, where a villain was waiting to ambush them. Letterman saves the day when he clobbers the villain with a doorknob, knocking him unconscious.
